Broadcast Journalism PSA
In broadcast journalism, I was tasked to join a group of other students to create a PSA of any type for the High School. My group had decided early on that I would direct the film, and we decided to choose a Zombie theme to help portray to students how important paying attention in class is. It took us a week or so to cast and shoot the entire scene, and we had it edited in another two days. Although the PSA has yet to air over the morning show at the high school, we do still plan on airing it.
This project applies to the following Patriot Pride Expectations:
• Respect for Individual Differences - While shooting and casting the scene, everyone had a different idea of the specifics about every shot. Seeing as how I was the director, I had to cater to everyone else's thougths on the idea. In the end, I chose the more popular of all the idea's that my group had and we moved onto the shooting and editing without any issues.
• Responsible Citizenship - Because this project was a Public Service Announcement and gives the students advice on how to become better students and to help their peers, I believe that the project showed Responsible Citizenship, and how I effectively took part in creating a better school community.
• Artistic Expression - As director of this project, I was able to express myself artisticly through the videos script, storyboard, and editing. Ultimately, the prioject turned out just as much a success as I had imagined it.
